Swonger, Sr., John S.

On December 28, 2004, JOHN S. SWONGER, SR., 88, of Johnson City, TN, formerly of Freeland, MD and New Freedom, PA. Husband of the late Sarah R. (Shelley) Swonger; father of the late John S. Swonger, Jr.; father in-law of Linda M. Swonger; grandfather of John C. Swonger and his wife Ruth, and Rachel M. Bury and her husband William; great grandfather of Kate and Margaret Swonger, and Jacob Bury. He is also survived by a special friend, Isabelle Bohlayer. He was a lifetime member of the Maryland Steam Historical Society. A funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, December 30 at the J. J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 Second St., New Freedom, PA with a viewing from 5 to 7 pm at the mortuary. Interment will be at 10:30 am Friday, December 31 in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Freeland, MD.
