BETTY GRAY GIBSON died Monday December 27, 2004 at the age of 93, in her residence at Roland Park Place, in Baltimore, MD. A Native of Richmond she was the widow of Stuart B. Gibson, she was a graduate of the Collegiate School and Vassar College, she was a Social Worker with the CHildren's Aid Society and the Children's Home Society, until she took time off to take care of her own children. Later, she changed her career path to librarian and worked for many years as the Librarian of St. Catherine's School and then at the Valentine Museum Research Library. Her volunteer activities included work with the Children's Theater, Junior League and YWCA. She served as Docent at the Virginia Museum of fine Arts, and as a tour guide at the State Capitol Building. SHe loved to travel and visited Russia, India, Egypt, Nigeria, Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan. She is survived by her daughters Lelia Hendren, of Bethesda, MD., ELizabeth Mehlin, of S. Hamilton, MA., and Eleanor Hale of Baltimore, MD., and 7 grandchildren Christopher Mehlin, Lisa Mehlin, Stuart Hendren, Patricia Hendren, Delia H. Biddison, Tom Hale, and Gibson Hale. There will be a Memorial Service at 10 A.M. at Roland Park Place, on Wednesday December 29 in Baltimore, MD., and a Graveside Memorial Service at Hollywood Cemetery., at 1 P.M. on Wednesday January 5, 2005.
