Jerry Addison, 76, veteran, dry cleaner

Jerry Addison, a retired dry cleaner, died of cancer Saturday at FutureCare Homewood in Charles Village. The West Baltimore resident was 76.

Born in Florence, S.C., he moved to Baltimore nearly 60 years ago and lived on North Gilmor Street. After serving in the Army in Germany from 1950 to 1952, he returned to Baltimore and worked for the former Norfolk Tailors. He retired a decade ago.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at New Hope Baptist Church, 850 Harlem Ave., where he was a member.

Survivors include his four brothers, Archie Smothers and Sylvester Smothers, both of Baltimore, Curtis Smothers of Oakland, Calif., and Dr. Kenneth Smothers of Washington; a sister, Ruth Fuller of Baltimore; and a longtime friend, Nola Bolden of Baltimore.
