Howard County police are investigating a shooting Friday night near the North Laurel home of a 25-year-old man.

Peter Jaklitsch of the first block of Ruth Ave. in the Beech Crest Mobile Home Park was shot at, police said, by one of three men in hooded coats who approached his front door. Police said Jaklitsch saw the men coming and fled, but then returned to confront them. One man pulled a gun and fired, but the bullet missed Jaklitsch, putting a hole in his sweat pants, police said. All three men fled, police said.

Police said they were called about 10:30 p.m., but a neighbor said she heard a series of gunshots about 9 p.m.

Officers recovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the scene, a police spokeswoman said.
