Blair, Allner join Maryland Capital

Maryland Capital Management LLC announced that John F. Blair and Frederick A. Allner III have joined the Baltimore-based investment and portfolio management firm.

Blair is a Loyola College MBA graduate and certified financial planner. Allner, a registered investment adviser, graduated from Virginia Military Institute. Both were vice presidents with Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown.

New Positions

McGinty, Snyder take posts at Cambridge Information

Cambridge Information Group Inc. appointed James P. McGinty as vice chairman and Andrew M. Snyder as president of the Bethesda-based information services and publishing firm.

McGinty is responsible for strategic planning and executive development. He was formerly with Dun and Bradstreet Corp. and is a member of the Software and Information Industry Association.

Snyder has responsibility for all activity of the firm's operating units. Formerly a vice president with Goldman Sachs, he holds a law degree from Georgetown University and a degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

Legal and Insurance

Barnes is Shapiro partner; Leavers, Hausner admitted

Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler named Roderick R. Barnes as a litigation partner in the Baltimore law firm and admitted Craig B. Leavers and David M. Hausner as associates.

Barnes was formerly with Ferguson, Schetelich & Ballew and specializes in general, insurance and construction litigation. He is a member of the Maryland, Baltimore, Baltimore County and American bar associations.

Leavers is a bankruptcy lawyer and was formerly with Neuberger, Quinn, Gielen, Rubin & Gibber. He is a resident of Towson. Hausner is also a certified public accountant and concentrates his practice in tax, corporate and real estate law.

All three are law graduates of the University of Baltimore.

Box is marketing chief for SMG Architects

SMG Architects named Rachel Box as the Baltimore/West Virginia firm's director of marketing. She will handle new business procurement and market expansion. A graduate of Loyola College, she was formerly an account executive with Carton Donofrio Partners Inc.
