The Key Play

Ravens Gameday

Colts 20, Ravens 10

December 20, 2004

JUNE'S INTERCEPTION OF BOLLER

Score: Colts lead 20-10

Quarter: Fourth

Situation: Ravens' ball, fourth-and-three at the Colts' 28

Play: The Ravens are driving, trying to cut the deficit to one score in the final two minutes. Instead of kicking a field goal to cut the Colts' lead to seven points, the Ravens decide to go for a first down. Quarterback Kyle Boller (7) looks for receiver Kevin Johnson (85) on a slant pattern. Colts linebacker Cato June (59) reads the play and leaves tight end Darnell Dinkins (87). June picks off Boller's throw at the 25-yard line and returns the ball 71 yards before stepping out of bounds at the Ravens' 4.

Aftermath: The Colts run out the clock and the Ravens fall into a four-way tie with the Jaguars, Broncos and Bills for the AFC's final playoff spot.
