CPR, first-aid classes offered at 2 county sites

The American Red Cross is offering cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first-aid classes around Carroll County.

Classes will be given at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (GELC), 21 Carroll St., Westminster; and Westminster Senior Center (WSC), 125 Stoner Ave.

Participants must register and pay for classes in advance. Available courses are:

Adult CPR: Classes are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at WSC and cost $37.

Infant and Child CPR: Classes are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at GELC and cost $37.

Infant and Child CPR and First Aid: Classes are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 22 at GELC and cost $42.

Adult CPR and First Aid Basics: Classes are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 8 at WSC and cost $42.

Baby sitter's Training: For youths 11 to 15. Students learn to interview for a job, react to an emergency or sudden illness, play with children of different ages (infant to primary school age), and supervise children in all aspects of care. The class is nine hours and costs $40. State law requires that children younger than 8 be in the care of someone age 13 or older. Volunteers needed to help at blood drives

The Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help with blood drives in Carroll County.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and be willing to work at two or more blood drives a month. Volunteers will assist with providing customer service to clients and help care for donors after they have given blood.

Training is provided.
