All-county Soccer - Girls

December 17, 2004|By Rich Scherr

Player of the Year

Kristin Greene, Westminster

Greene, an all-conference goalie each of the past three years, capped her high school career with a command performance, allowing just eight goals in 17 games and recording a .922 save percentage.

The 5-foot-9 senior controls the box better than anyone in the county, coupling that with the instincts to know when to aggressively charge out for the block and when to stay put.

Coach of the Year

Terry Molloy, Westminster

After guiding his team to the regional final a year ago, the Owls' third-year coach faced a challenge this season after losing some of his top players to graduation. Westminster, however, exceeded expectations by finishing 12-2-3 and supplanting Century as the Carroll County champion.

Molloy, who has a 27-12-6 career record at Westminster and also is the school's full-time athletic director and facility coordinator, guided his team to a key playoff win against Perry Hall en route to a Class 4A North region title.
