All-county Cross Country - Boys

Anne Arundel

December 17, 2004

Runner of the Year

Matthew Centrowitz, Broadneck

After spending his freshman year on the Bruins' junior varsity soccer team, Centrowitz proved that his decision to switch to cross country was a good one.

In eight major invitationals and championships, the sophomore never fell out of the top 10, and his worst showing was seventh place in the seeded division at the Georgetown Prep Classic.

Centrowitz captured wins at the Anne Arundel County (16:23.7), Class 4A East region (15:16) and state (16:38) championships.

Coach of the Year

Dana Dobbs, Broadneck

After guiding the Bruins girls squad to back-to-back Class 4A state crowns, Dobbs didn't rest on his laurels. Instead, the fiery tri-athlete turned his attention to the boys team, which wasn't expected to contend for a state title until next year.

After collecting crowns at the Knights Invite and the Harford Invitational, the Bruins blazed through the postseason with their second straight county title, an East region crown and their first state title since 1984.
