Janet Elaine Jones, 48, employee of archdiocese

Janet Elaine Jones, an Archdiocese of Baltimore worker and ballroom dancer, died Dec. 4 at the University of Maryland Medical Center after undergoing heart surgery. The Cherry Hill resident was 48.

Born Janet Hendricks in Laus, Germany, she was a 1974 graduate of Eastern High School and earned a diploma from Strayer University, where she studied business.

After serving as the church secretary at St. Veronica Roman Catholic Church in Cherry Hill, she worked for 15 years at the Archdiocese of Baltimore in downtown Baltimore in its Office of African-American Ministries.

She was a member and treasurer of a ballroom dance group, Silky Smooth Productions, part of the Hand Dance Association.

A Mass was offered yesterday at St. Veronica Church.

Survivors, all of whom live in Baltimore, include her husband of 22 years, Ernest Jones, Jr., a millwork assembler; two sons, Ernest Jones III and Edmund Jones; her mother and stepfather, Jimmie Tyler and William Tyler; a brother, Clifford Hendricks Jr.; four sisters, Janice Harris, Cynthia Jones, Barbara Eaton and Gayle Hendricks Slowe; and a granddaughter.
