Matea Pender scored 22 points on 7-for-12 shooting as the UMBC women's basketball team downed Lafayette, 73-57, last night in Easton, Pa.

The Retrievers (4-2) hit 10 of their first 12 shots from the floor in the first half, and eight of their first nine in the second half. They shot 60 percent from the field for the game.

Lindsay Myers scored 11 points in each half for the Leopards (2-4) and finished with a career-high 22 points.

Bowie State 71, Columbia Union 47: Allyson Hardy scored 21 points to lead a trio of double-digit scorers for the host Bulldogs (2-2).

Crystal Payne and Bethany Sloat each had 13 points for the Pioneers (0-9).

College of Notre Dame 67, Goucher 59: Casie Hall (Lansdowne) had a double double, 13 points and 15 rebounds, for the visiting Gators (3-3) at the Sport and Recreation Center.

The victory ended a two-game losing streak and marked the first series win in seven years over Goucher (0-7).

Salisbury 76, Washington College 66: Kiera Watkins (20 points) hit a layup early in the second half to spur an 18-5 scoring run and the Sea Gulls (6-2) held off a late rally by the host Shorewomen (2-5).

Salisbury went on to lead by as many as 18 points twice in the second half.

Lauren Duckworth led the Shorewomen with 14 points.

McDaniel 58, Lebanon Valley 52: The visiting Green Terror (5-2), paced by Brooke Weimer with 12 points, went 7-for-10 in the closing minute of play to hold off the Flying Dutchmen (4-3).

Lebanon Valley erased a 13-point, second-half deficit with a late 16-3 run. LV's Erin Eaby and Monica Johnson each had 12 points.

Howard 59, Loyola 53: The Bison (5-0), led by Daisha Hicks with 20 points, outscored the visiting Greyhounds 9-6 in the final three minutes for the win.

Jill Glessner paced Loyola (1-5) with 13 points.


DeSales 92, Goucher 84: Kyle Koch scored 25 points as the host Bulldogs (4-2) defeated the Gophers (4-2).

DeSales outscored Goucher 14-6 on fast-break attempts.

Jermaine Saunders led Goucher with 19 points, and Garrett Smith scored 18.

Bowie State 106, Lincoln (Pa.) 93: Kevin Bell scored 18 points to power the Bulldogs (6-0) past the host Lions (5-4).
