Bengals 27, Ravens 26

December 06, 2004

THE KEY PLAY

CARSON PALMER'S 2ND-AND-18 PASS

Score: Ravens lead 26-24

Quarter: Fourth

Situation: Bengals' ball, second-and-18 at their 26-yard line

Play: After being sacked for an 8-yard loss on first down, the Bengals face a second-and-long situation as they try to drive for a game-winning score. Quarterback Carson Palmer (9) is flushed out of the pocket by the rush of Terrell Suggs (55). Palmer rolls to his left and throws down the sideline to a wide-open T.J. Houshmandzadeh (84), who got behind Ravens safety Will Demps (47). Houshmandzadeh catches it at the Bengals' 49 and picks up another 9 yards for a first down at the Ravens' 42.

Aftermath: Six plays later -- including a key 22-yard pass from Palmer to Chad Johnson -- Shayne Graham kicks a 24-yard field goal to hand the Ravens their second consecutive loss.
