Public comments being accepted on conservation program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is accepting comments on the Conservation Reserve Program through Wednesday online or through the local Farm Service Agency in Westminster.

Farm producers and the public may make comments on the need for the continuation of the program, as well as other issues, such as enrollments and contract expirations.

The conservation program is a voluntary program for agricultural landowners that offers rental payments and cost-share assistance to establish long-term, resource-conserving covers on eligible farmland.

For information on topics open for comment, go to www.fsa.usda.gov/dafp/cepd/crpinfo.htm, or call 410-848-2780.
