Because of an editing error, an article in yesterday's editions about cash rewards given to city schools with high state test scores incorrectly indicated that a comment made by Sandra Ashe, principal of Rosemont Elementary, was a direct quote. Ashe's comment - that it would be a shame to spend such a large amount of money on sundry school supplies - was a paraphrase.

Because of incorrect information supplied by the Associated Press, the rank and name of a soldier were wrong in a photo caption that accompanied a story in yesterday's Sun about an increase in the number of troops being sent to Iraq. She is Capt. Sonise Lumbaca.

The Sun regrets the errors.
