The Washington Monument Aglow

Where: Mount Vernon Square

When: 6 p.m.-8 p.m. today.

Why: Mount Vernon Square is the prefect place to get into the holiday spirit. The monument will be lighted by Mayor Martin O'Malley and Baltimore Ravens' receiver Todd Heap about 7:30 p.m. with fireworks immediately afterward. Holiday vendors and live entertainment will be set up in tents in the square. The Maryland Historical Society is offering free hot chocolate and live tunes by a cappella divas The Women of Note. The Walters plans to serve hot cider.
