On Wednesday, November 24, 2004, WILLIAM RAY BURTON, SR., of Freeland, MD, born January 25, 1925, originally from the Hamilton area of Baltimore, MD; a US Marine Corps Veteran of Iwo Jima, Tool and Die maker, and Excavation Contractor; member of the Legion of Honor of the Boumi Shrine Temple and a Master Mason of Charity Blue Lodge #138. William is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Burton; three sons, William Ray Burton, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Wesley D. Burton of Parkton, MD, Alan Ray Burton of Ocean City, MD; a daughter, Dawn M. Burton of Sparks, MD; a stepson Wayne Mellott of Parkton, MD; a stepdaughter, Linda Mellott Palmer of White Hall, MD; his brother, Preston Burton of Berlin, MD; seven grandchildren, Dana M., Sara M., Emily A., Laura E., Molly J., Joshua Ray and Jason A. Burton; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Karis. The family will receive friends at the family owned Peaceful Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. (Masonic Service 7:30 P.M.), where a funeral service will be held on Monday, November 29 at 11 A.M. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital Fund.
