"A Christmas Diary," a preservation of memories from diaries of Carroll County residents, will be the theme this year for the Carroll County Farm Museum's holiday tour.
Each room of the 1850s-era farmhouse will be festively decorated according to the memories set down by residents in their diaries, poetry and newspaper accounts written before 1900.
The tour will include light fare available in the Sleigh Bell Cafe, located in the lower level of the Administration Building.
Santa visits, artisan demonstrations and wagon rides on weekends are also featured.
The gift shop will be open and stocked with holiday items, including stuffed animals from Gund and Ganz, handcrafted items made by museum artisans, holiday ornaments from other countries, and the Farm Museum's 2004 hand-painted ornament. The tour will be held Friday, Saturday and Dec. 5, and Dec. 10, 11 and 12. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $1 per person; children age 6 and younger with a paying adult will be admitted free.
A tree lighting ceremony, with Christmas carols, will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday.
In conjunction with the holiday tour, the museum will hold its Holiday Teas at noon and 2 p.m. Dec. 8, 9, 15 and 16.
The cost is $10 per person and includes sweet treats, tea and a guided tour of the farmhouse.
Limited reservations are available each day. Registration and pre-payment are required. Groups of eight or more can reserve a time slot for a private tea. Groups of fewer than eight may be seated with other guests.
The Farm Museum is at 500 S. Center St., Westminster.
