Virginia Muise, 111, a retired hospital cafeteria manager and avid Boston Red Sox fan believed to be the oldest resident of New England and 31st-oldest person in the world, died Nov. 2 at a nursing home in North Haverhill, N.H.
Her regional and worldwide ranking in longevity was established by the Los Angeles-based Gerontology Research Group, which tracks "super-centenarians," or those older than 110.
