Sophomore Ryan Kutchey scored the game-winning goal for Lutheran midway through the second half as the Saints recorded a 2-1, come-from-behind victory over St. John's-Prospect Hall in the first round of the MIAA C Conference playoffs yesterday.

Lutheran (8-5-1) trailed in the first half, but rallied to tie it at 1 on Alex Heil's goal.

The win was Lutheran's second over the Vikings (6-8) this season.

The Saints advanced to the quarterfinals, where they will face Glenelg Country School on Tuesday. Lutheran has lost to Glenelg twice this season.

Edgewood 3, Kent Island 2: Sophomore defender Adam O'Keefe scored the game-winner after two overtimes for the Rams, who bested the Buccaneers in penalty kicks, 4-3.

Sophomore midfielder Craig Miser had a goal and an assist in regulation and also converted his penalty kick.

Senior goalkeeper Paul Yungandreas stopped 17 shots and also scored on a penalty kick as the host Rams (4-11) advanced to the second round of the Class 2A East playoffs.

Thomas Stone 2, Broadneck 1; Matt Loher got the game-winner with 20 minutes remaining as the Cougars (8-5-1) beat the Bruins (5-9-1) in the Class 4A North playoffs.

Junior James Evans scored the Bruins' goal.

Glen Burnie 3, Meade 0: Senior midfielder Brandon Smith had a goal and an assist to pace the Gophers (3-10-1) over the host Mustangs.

Glen Burnie advanced to face Arundel Wednesday in the Class 4A East region.
