Blast tonight

Matchup: Blast (1-1) vs. St. Louis Steamers (0-0)

Site: Savvis Center, St. Louis

Time: 8:35

Radio: WCBM (680 AM)

Outlook: The Blast visits St. Louis, where the Steamers will be playing their first game of the season. That should give the Blast, the two-time defending league champion, an upper hand. But this Baltimore team won't look quite like the one that opened the season with two games against San Diego. Key defenseman Danny Kelly injured a knee in practice Tuesday and will be sidelined "a few weeks," said Blast GM Kevin Healey. To cope with the loss, Healey traded Baltimore's fourth-round pick in the upcoming MISL amateur draft to the Philadelphia KiXX for defender Tony McPeak. McPeak has signed a 15-day, five-game contract and will play his first game tonight. But Healey said coach Tim Wittman may shuffle his lineup to move P.J. Wakefield from MF to D and play McPeak, who had a career-high six goals and six assists for Philly in 30 games last season. McPeak will probably play forward with second-year forward Carlos Garcia shifting to midfield.
