Police arrested one man and were seeking at least one other last night in the fatal shooting yesterday afternoon of a man in his late teens or early 20s in the Lochearn area of Baltimore County, police said.

Police declined to release details of the arrest, but said the shooting was not a random act.

The victim drove to Southern Cross Drive and Westridge Road about 4:10 p.m., got out of his white four-door car and began arguing with a group of men on the corner, said Sgt. Vickie Warehime, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman.

The argument led to pushing and shoving, and one of the men on the corner shot the victim several times in the upper body, Warehime said. The victim was apparently unarmed, she said.

Police did not release the name of the victim last night. They were interviewing several witnesses but did not release information about the suspect.

Warehime said police believe the victim and the shooter knew each other, but she said police knew of no motive for the shooting.
