A Sports column in yesterday's editions reported incorrectly that the Boston Red Sox were within one out of winning the World Series in 1986 when Bill Buckner committed an error against the New York Mets. In fact, the game was tied when Buckner committed the error, allowing the winning run to score.

An article in yesterday's Sports section misidentified the sire of last year's Breeders' Cup Classic winner, Pleasantly Perfect. The sire is Pleasant Colony.
