Evelyn T. Russell, 78, administrative assistant

Evelyn T. Russell, a retired administrative assistant and homemaker, died of respiratory failure Friday at the Annapolis home of a daughter. The Arnold resident was 78.

Born Evelyn Trimble in Richwood, W.Va., she moved to Annapolis in 1945. During the late 1940s and early 1950s, she was an administrative assistant for People's Insurance Co. and Nationwide Insurance Co.

She was married in 1946 to Graham D. Russell, a Naval Academy nuclear engineer who died in 1994.

After raising her family, Mrs. Russell returned to work in the 1970s and for a decade was an administrative assistant at Flowers By James, an Annapolis florist. She enjoyed flower arranging, interior design and preparing Italian dishes, which she served at family dinners.

Mrs. Russell was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis.

Services were held Tuesday.

She is survived by two sons, Baltimore County District Judge G. Darrell Russell Jr. of Towson and Charles A. Russell of Centreville; two daughters, Catherine D. Russell of Arnold and Nancy R. Bajus of Annapolis; a sister, Mildred C. "Mickey" Jones of Annapolis; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
