HCC planning Nov. 5 job fair on Columbia campus

Howard Community College will hold its annual fall job-career fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Burrill Galleria on campus, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Representatives from a range of fields and companies will be on hand to discuss employment opportunities, accept applications and schedule interviews.

Participants should bring their resumes for expert review by the college's career counselors, and they can access the HCC Jobs On-Line database.

Cascades Professional Center under construction

Construction is under way for Cascades Professional Center, a 47,726-square-foot office-condominium building at 7120 Minstrel Way, Columbia.

The project, a joint venture between James M. Jost & Co. Inc. and the Sanford Cos., is expected to be completed in the spring.

The two-story building, which features a red brick and glass exterior, will be marketed as a condominium project with up to 23 units available ranging from 1,625 square feet to a full-floor of 25,000 square feet. Pre-construction pricing is to be $230 per square foot.

The project is near the intersection of Broken Land and Snowden River parkways. Baltimore-based NAI KLNB, a regional commercial real estate and property-management company, has been selected as the sales company.

Md. homebuilders group honors Rouse Co., project

The Rouse Co. has received two awards from the Home Builders Association of Maryland.

The company was awarded the 2004 Community Development Award of Excellence for its overall superior design, planning and construction activities. Stone Lake, which is being developed by the Rouse Co. in southeastern Howard County, was recognized as the 2004 Project of the Year.

Stone Lake is a 137-acre, upscale gated residential community southeast of Columbia. With a 25-acre lake as its focal point, Stone Lake contains 98 acres of open space with miles of pathways, many that overlook the lake. Amenities include a guarded front gate, tennis courts, putting green and a boat dock from which residents may fish , canoe and kayak.

At completion, Stone Lake will contain 224 luxury homes on custom lots built by homebuilders that include Craftmark Homes, Churchill Development Corp., Goodier Builders, Miller & Smith, NU-Homes and the Williamsburg Group.
