WESTPORT, Conn. - The Major Indoor Soccer League terminated its management agreement with Americas Entertainment Management S.A. de C.V., operator of the Monterrey Fury team, during an emergency session of its management committee yesterday.

The Mexican indoor soccer franchise's 40-game schedule for the 2004-05 season has been canceled. The team's first game, against the Kansas City Comets, was scheduled for tomorrow.

The now eight-team league said in a news release it is reviewing the impact the decision will have on its entire schedule.

The league's release said Americas Entertainment Management had been advised repeatedly that it was not complying with multiple terms of the management agreement.

"This termination decision was precipitated by a long series of noncompliance and disregard for the obligations and responsibilities of an MISL member club," the league said.

The MISL, the release said, "remains committed to the passionate soccer fans of Monterrey and appreciates their enthusiasm, loyalty, and support. The league will continue to work with community leaders and potential investor/operators to return [MISL] to Monterrey as quickly as possible."
