Carroll Hospital Center cancels flu shot clinic

Carroll Hospital Center has announced that, because of the flu vaccine shortage, tomorrow's scheduled flu shot clinic at the Family Health Festival at TownMall of Westminster has been canceled.

The festival will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the mall and will feature health, wellness and safety information and screenings, entertainment and children's activities.

The Carroll County Health Department had to return most of its vaccine allottment to the state for distribution to other counties.

Regional airport to expand jet fuel storage capacity

Carroll County will expand the jet fuel storage capacity at the regional airport using nearly $154,000 in grants from the federal and state aviation administrations. The county match for the project is $3,948.

Seven newly leased corporate jet hangars and the increase in traffic at the facility outside Westminster are draining the 12,000-gallon tanks within a few days. The new project will increase fuel storage capacity by 24,000 gallons.
