Police searching for driver who forced motorcyclist off road

Anne Arundel County police are looking for a driver they say forced a motorcyclist off the road on Ritchie Highway at Arnold Road Tuesday night.

Witnesses say a green BMW traveling south changed lanes just south of the intersection about 11:49 p.m., Lt. Ken Schlein said. A motorcyclist in the left lane overturned on the median and suffered injuries, he said.

The BMW, which had a tinted cover over its license plates, was last seen traveling east on Route 50, according to police.

Police think the accident might have been prompted by road rage. Police ask anyone with information about the accident to call 410-222-6145.

County police warn drivers of people posing as officers

After two reports of people possibly impersonating police officers last week, Anne Arundel County police have recommended that drivers take safety precautions before stopping for someone not wearing a uniform or in a police vehicle.

Drivers should turn on the vehicle's interior light and wave to recognize that they understand an officer is trying to stop them. Drivers then should proceed to a well-lighted, populated area to stop for the officer.
