Sunday session on colleges set at Atholton High

Representatives from more than 150 colleges, universities and technical schools around the country will be available to speak to students and their parents from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Atholton High School.

The event, sponsored by Howard County high school counselors, is free.

Sessions on financial aid will be offered at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Atholton High School is at 6520 Freetown Road, Columbia.

School board candidates to address forum tonight

The League of Women Voters of Howard County and the PTA Council of Howard County will co-sponsor a public forum for Board of Education candidates from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in the boardroom of the Department of Education, 10910 Route 108, Ellicott City.

Candidates Frank Aquino, Diane Mikulis and Mary Kay Sigaty will give introductory statements and answer questions.

The league, a nonpartisan political organization that encourages citizen participation in public life, will also hold a public forum for 3rd and 7th District congressional candidates from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 26 at Howard Community College's Smith Theatre, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Board of Education plans to meet twice tomorrow

The Howard County Board of Education will hold a regularly scheduled meeting at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in the boardroom at the Department of Education, 10910 Route 108, Ellicott City.

Both sessions are to begin with a public forum during which residents may address the board on topics for which there is no formal hearing process. Advance sign-up is requested.

The school board will meet with the Howard County School Boundary Line Committee at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 in the boardroom at the Department of Education building.

On Oct. 28, David Drown, coordinator for Geographical Information Systems, will present the superintendent's redistricting proposal to the school board at its regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m.

`Guiding Your Child' class set for parents

"Guiding Your Child," a behavior-management course for parents of children who are developmentally delayed or disabled or who have a learning disability, will be offered by The Arc of Howard County Inc. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, today and Oct. 20 and 27, and Nov. 3, 10 and 17, at The Arc's offices, 11735 Homewood Road, Ellicott City.

The cost for the six-week course, taught by Chaya Kaplan, is $20 a family.

Meetings slated for parents of children with ADHD

CHADD of Greater Baltimore sponsors a support group for parents of children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Meetings are held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at the Loyola College Graduate Center, 8890 McGaw Road, Columbia.

The meeting is open to the public, and newcomers are welcome.
