Firehouse to hold fright nights

October 10, 2004

Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department is prepared to tingle the spine of anyone who dares take its Bedlam in the Boro haunted hayride or explore the House of Horror this month.

The event will be held Friday, Saturday and Oct. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30, starting from the firehouse at 4224 Main St. Ticket booth hours are 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays and 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Attractions stay open until the last person has exited.

The wagon ride winds through three miles of dark roads around Lineboro with scenes of ghosts, goblins, witches and other characters.

The House of Horror has been expanded this year. Visitors make their way on foot, encountering ghosts and other frightening sights in the 3,000 square feet of haunted house.

For the less hardy, a Bedlam Bypass nonscary ride for children of all ages will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 24. Tickets are $4 and include a trip to the pumpkin patch for a pumpkin and face painting for each child.

The fire department also will have food, including pit beef, french fries, baked goods and hot and cold beverages. Platters will be available from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Other activities include a midway, carnival-type foods, games and entertainment.

Free live entertainment by local groups will be offered from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. as follows: Friday and Oct. 30, Ds Magic; Saturday, Poison Whiskey Band; Oct. 22 and 23, Excalibur Entertainment; and Oct. 29, disc jockey Kevin Strack.

Tickets are $7 for age 9 and older and $5 for age 8 and younger for the hayride; $5 and $3, respectively, for the House of Horror. A ticket for both attractions is $10 and $6, respectively. RIP tickets (go to the front of the line, both attractions) are $20 for age 9 and up and $12 for age 8 and younger.
