11 area companies are honored by homebuilders group

The Land Development Council of the Home Builders Association of Maryland honored 11 area companies last week for contributions to the industry.

Companies were chosen based on their efforts to protect the environment, the history of their developments and service to surrounding communities.

Awards included:

Consultant of the year: Don Lassahn, Morris & Ritchie Associates Inc. of Abingdon.

Lifetime achievement award: Ellwood Sinsky, Ellwood Building Corp. of Owings Mills.

Developer of the year: Jim Piet, Masonry Contractors/Woodhaven Building & Development of Manchester.

Contractor of the year: Gaines & Co. Inc. of Hunt Valley.

Project of the year: The Rouse Co., for Stone Lake in Howard County.

Awards of Excellence for specific developments in the area went to:

Pulte Homes with Carroll Land Services Inc., for Coventry at Westminster.

Beazer Homes with Daft-McCune-Walker Inc., for Fieldstone Riverhill in Howard County.

Grayson Development Co., LLC with Morris & Ritchie Associates Inc., for Hidden Bluff in Baltimore County.
