McDaniel College sets homecoming events tomorrow

Athletic games, parade are among the highlights

McDaniel College will hold its annual homecoming activities tomorrow with several sports games, a parade and an alumni recognition ceremony.

Scott S. Bair Stadium will open at 9 a.m. Scheduled sports events include a men's lacrosse alumni game at 10 a.m.; a field hockey alumni game at 11 a.m.; volleyball vs. Muhlenberg College at noon; men's soccer vs. Ursinus College at 12:30 p.m.; football vs. Gettysburg College at 1 p.m.; and women's soccer vs. Haverford College at 3 p.m.

The homecoming parade will begin at noon at the East Middle School parking lot on Longwell Avenue and will travel up Main Street to the college.

At the football game, the coin toss will be performed by Alumna of the Year Nancy Caskey Voss, Class of 1954, and the national anthem will be sung by Corie McFaul Buettner, Class of 1999.

During halftime of the football game, the following alumni association awards will be presented: Alumna of the Year to Voss; the Meritorious Service Award to Carol Sause Burch, 1954, and Marian Scheder Goettee, 1957; the Alumni Community Award to Helen Leatherwood Simpson, 1938, and Mark W. Titus, 1992; and the Distinguished Alumni Award to Sharon Fischer Manning, 1965, and Mary McGuirk Drawbaugh, 1993.

Voss earned Alumna of the Year for her service to the college and her community, for local and statewide education as a teacher, and for her involvement in political organizations and her church. She has served McDaniel in numerous capacities for 40 years.

Also at halftime, the Class of 2004's Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame inductees, the Homecoming Court and the James Brant Memorial Cup will be presented.

McDaniel will also hold open houses tomorrow:

Foreign Language, Religious Studies and Philosophy in Baker Memorial Chapel, and Library Science in Hoover Library, both from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
