Voter registration is due Tuesday for presidential ballot

October 07, 2004

The Maryland State Board of Elections has announced that the deadline for registering to vote in the presidential election is 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Voter registration applications must be received or postmarked by Oct. 12 to qualify for the Nov. 2 election.

Applications are available in Carroll County from the local election board and at the Health Department office, the Department of Social Services office, the Bureau of Aging, colleges, post offices and public libraries.

Applications also may be requested by calling 800-222- VOTE or may be downloaded from the state board's Web site, www.elections.state.md.us.

Elderly or disabled people with an inaccessible polling place may ask to be reassigned to an accessible location. Requests for reassignment must be sent in writing to the Carroll election board by Oct. 12. If reassigned, voters will still cast ballots for their home precincts.

The Carroll County Board of Elections is at 224 N. Center St., Room 105, Westminster.

Information: 410-386-2080.
