ALLEN HOWARD COHEN was born on June 6, 1921 and died at the age of 83 on September 26, 2004. He was the youngest of seven siblings. He was educated at Baltimore City College where he played football for their 1938 State Championship Team. He then received a four year scholarship to Western Maryland College where he also played football. He joined the Navy Reserves and was sent to Notre Dame, passed the course, and was appointed an ensign. He served in the Pacific directing assault boats to many islands held by the Japanese. He left military service as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. Returning home, he opened several businesses. He had a long term association with Irma Dean. When she wanted to move to Florida, he sold his assets, they married and moved to Vero Beach, Florida. About three years ago he developed Parkinson's Disease along with Alzheimer's dementia. When his wife died, his daughter-in-law Lenore Dean took over his care and provided medical and physical care, when he needed a wheelchair then bed care. Funeral arrangements were private.
