Police arrest man after woman is shot

October 05, 2004|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A man accused of shooting his girlfriend was arrested last night by Baltimore police after a two-hour search of her Armistead Gardens neighborhood.

The victim - described as in her mid-40s, but not named - was shot during an argument after the suspect had entered her two-story rowhouse in the 1000 block of Lerew Way, according to Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman.

The woman and her uninjured teenage daughter fled and called police.

Within minutes, the area was cordoned off while officers entered the house, but the man had fled, Harris said.

The woman, taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, was in critical condition, Harris said.

Officers assisted by a helicopter captured the unnamed suspect a few blocks away.
