AAMC to hold retreat for breast cancer survivors Oct. 16, 17

Anne Arundel Medical Center's Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute will hold its second annual Cancer Survivors Retreat of AAMC for breast cancer survivors Oct. 16 and 17 at the Aspen Wye River Conference Center in Queenstown.

Activities Oct. 16 will begin at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast. The morning session will cover radiology and finding humor as a survivor. Lunch will be at 12:45 p.m. The afternoon session will cover the role of spirituality and faith. Workshops will cover nutrition, keeping a journal, tai chi and living with breast cancer. Dinner will be at 7 p.m.

On Oct. 17, breakfast will be at 9 a.m., followed at 10 a.m. by medical information for survivors and integrative modalities and their role in recovery at 11 a.m., and lunch at noon. At 1 p.m., music therapy, yoga or free time will be offered. The day will conclude with a section on sexuality in recovery at 2 p.m.

The event costs $75. Scholarships are available. Overnight accommodations are extra. 443-481-5316.
