City police identify two men killed in separate shootings

Two men who were fatally shot in unrelated incidents Friday night and Saturday were named yesterday by city police, but no arrest had been made in either slaying.

The latest homicide occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday. The victim, Thomas Ragin, 27, of the 1600 block of Riggs Ave., was standing in the 1000 block of Bonaparte Ave. when he was shot at least five times, police said. He died about 30 minutes later at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

About 8:30 p.m. Friday, John Shivers, 42, of the 200 block of Ridgehill Ave. was standing in the 3700 block of Eldorado Ave. when he was shot in the chest during what appeared to be an attempted robbery. Shivers died at Sinai Hospital, police said.

Anyone with information about either homicide was urged to call detectives at 410-396-2100.
