Red Sox update

After a spirited chase of the New York Yankees in the AL East, the Red Sox have clinched the wild card. With a 95-63 record, the Red Sox are one victory from their highest win total since 1978. Boston has dropped nine of 15 games in the season series with the Orioles. Boston's pitching staff, aside from 21-game winner Curt Schilling, has struggled recently. As of last night, Boston manager Terry Francona hadn't announced his weekend rotation, but if he kept it the way it's been, Schilling and Bronson Arroyo would pitch in the doubleheader tomorrow, followed by Derek Lowe on Sunday. However, with Schilling scheduled to throw in Game 1 of the Division Series, he may not pitch at all. Manny Ramirez leads the AL with 43 home runs. - Jeff Zrebiec
