Madin, Pikesville top Sparrows Point

The Pikesville volleyball team edged Sparrows Point yesterday in five games on the Pointers' home court.

The Panthers (4-3) won the first two games, 25-22 and 25-21, then dropped the next two, 20-25 and 21-25, before clinching the victory in the fifth game, 15-8. Senior middle hitter Amanda Madin led the Panthers with 18 kills, and junior outside hitter Gabby Boggs finished with seven.

Franklin 3, Milford Mill 0: Senior middle hitter Meghan McDearmon helped lead the Indians (6-1) over the host Millers (4-2). McDearmon finished with 11 kills, and senior Lindsey Shue added nine.

Poly 3, Friends 1: The Engineers won a four-game match over the visiting Quakers. Sophomore setter Joi Upton had nine straight service points in the first game to give the Engineers the early lead.
