Pablo Martin, the 36-hole leader, posted a 1-over-par 71, and won the 16th annual Ping/Golfweek Preview collegiate tournament at Caves Valley Golf Club yesterday. He finished with a 54-hole total of 206 and won by two strokes.

Martin, a freshman from Spain, and sophomore Tyler Leon (69-211) led Oklahoma State to the team title with a score of 848. Georgia Tech, which led briefly midway in the final round, finished second at 852, followed by Georgia at 861.

Matt Rosenfeld, a Texas junior, vaulted into second place with 67-208. UNLV senior Ryan Moore produced a round similar to ones he had put up during a stellar summer season. The reigning NCAA titleholder and U.S. Amateur champion posted a 4-under 66-209 for third place.

Moore had six birdies and a double bogey at the ninth, where he drove into a hazard, chopped out, hit his approach to three feet and three-putted. For the round, he hit 16 greens and declared it a solid round.

John Holmes, a Kentucky senior, had the low round of the tournament, 65, and tied for 12th.

Rosenfeld's tour of the 7,124-yard course included five birdies and two bogeys.

NOTES: UNLV freshman Jarred Texter, the only member of the 2004 Canon Cup junior tournament held at Caves Valley in August, finished second to Moore on his team with 71-218, and a tie for 24th. ... Loyola, led by sophomore Will Shriver (74-225), finished last in the team standings with 917, but those involved were, for the most part, satisfied with the effort against the top teams in the country.
