An Edgewood man was hospitalized after being stabbed five to seven times early Sunday in a robbery on Windstream Way, the Harford County Sheriff's Department said.

Investigators identified the victim as John Howard, 23. According to Lt. Jim Eyler of the sheriff's department, Howard was sitting in his car around 4 a.m. outside the Sunrise Condominiums when he was approached by two black men, ordered to get out of the vehicle and hand over any valuables.

Eyler said that Howard, who had been waiting for a friend, was then stabbed five to seven times in his right side. Howard was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where officials today said he was in fair condition.

According to Eyler, the men took under $10 in cash and other items from the car. Citing the ongoing investigation, Eyler would not immediately say what those other items were.

Eyler said investigators have several positive leads in the case, and hope to have the suspects identified by the end of the week.
