David A. Shaffer receives promotion at accounting firm
David A. Shaffer has been promoted to principal at McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond, certified public accountants and business consultants.
He is a Microsoft-certified systems engineer, Microsoft-certified professional and founder of Tier One Technology Partners. He has a bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College.
Shaffer is on the board of directors of the Carroll Technology Council and chairman of the council's CompuKids program, which places recycled computers in the homes of underprivileged children.
Jennifer Jackson hired as child care co. director
The Carroll Child Care Centers Inc. has announced the hiring of its first new director in nine years.
Jennifer Jackson has 12 years of experience in child care, as well as teaching pre-kindergarten.
Employment center offers job programs, workshops
The Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center offers a variety of workshops and programs to help people seeking a job or new career.
Monthly programs include: career ability and orientation placement survey, preparing for a job fair, employment goal identification, choosing child care, surviving layoffs, how to apply for a state job, computer and Internet basics, job discrimination, computerizing resumes, interviewing, how to negotiate, starting a business, registering and posting resumes on the Internet, attitude, time and money management, networking, professional cover letters and resumes, job references, rolling over a 401K plan and dealing with and making changes in your life.
