Tigers update

It appears the Tigers will have to settle for fourth place in the American League Central, but they made significant improvement over last season. The Tigers set a club record by having 10 players with 100 or more hits. Three players with 350 or more plate appearances are hitting better than .300, the first time that has happened since 1993. Detroit has also tied a major league record by having 10 players with 10 or more home runs. The Orioles did it in 1998 and 2000. The Orioles swept the Tigers in a three-game series in late May. Johnson, making his return to Camden Yards after the Orioles non-tendered him over the winter, has lost his past six decisions. He was ejected in the fifth inning in his previous start after allowing four runs in 4 2/3 innings at Chicago. The Orioles scored six runs off him in 4 2/3 innings on May 28.
