A Wilde season indeed

Theater in the Baltimore-Washington area will start Wilde and end Wilde -- Oscar Wilde, that is. Separate productions of his first successful play, Lady Windermere's Fan, launch the season at Center Stage tomorrow and conclude the season at Washington's Shakespeare Theatre in June. The 1892 play focuses on a happily married woman who suspects that her husband may be involved in a scandalous relationship.

Center Stage's production is directed by Irene Lewis and stars two Center Stage newcomers -- Michael Bakkensen and Mahira Kakkar as Lord and Lady Windermere. Felicity Jones plays the woman of shady virtue. Set, costume and lighting design are by frequent Lewis collaborators Tony Straiges, Candice Donnelly and Mimi Jordan Sherin, respectively.

Show times at Center Stage, 700 N. Calvert St., are 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Sundays; with matinees at 2 p.m. most Saturdays and Sundays, through Oct. 24. Tickets are $10-$60. Call 410-332-0033 or visit www.centerstage.org.
