Human resources seminar scheduled for Thursday

A human resources information exchange seminar, "Innovative Recruiting Practices," will be held from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patuxent Greens Country Club, 14415 Greenview Drive, Laurel.

Human resource leaders from Marines4Life, United Parcel Service, Bozzuto Landscaping and Securpros will profile strategies and programs for recruiting employees and hold discussions.

The seminar is intended for employees who handle human resources in their organizations. It is a tactical program that provides information and practical applications.

The cost is $20 for members prepaid and $30 at the door and for nonmembers. Information: 301-776-5553.

Mullin/Ashley Associates wins print media awards

Mullin/Ashley Associates Inc., an integrated business-to-business communications firm serving the Mid-Atlantic, has been recognized in the Communicator Awards 2004 Print Media Competition with five winning entries covering work performed for three clients.

Three of the awards were won for communications pieces created for Anne Arundel Health System in Annapolis. A Crystal Award of Excellence, the highest award level, was won for an annual report created for the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation. Titled "Real Heroes, a Portrait," this 28-page report honors those who contributed to the foundation.

Also presented was an Award of Distinction for "The Smart Choice," a brochure promoting the technology and services of Anne Arundel Diagnostics, an AAHS subsidiary.

Mullin/Ashley also received an honorable mention award for a bimonthly periodical developed in conjunction with Anne Arundel Medical Center's employee motivation initiative. Titled, "You're Makin' It Great," the newsletter recognizes the efforts of all employees, including medical staff, nurses and support staff. Stories on patient satisfaction, hospital expansion, new medical services and technologies are also covered.

The firm was also cited for projects conducted for two other clients. An award of distinction was given for a capabilities brochure designed and produced for the Engineered Materials Division of J.M. Huber Co. based in Atlanta, and an article on proper handwashing techniques for food service workers. Mullin Ashley developed the article for Eagle Foodservice Equipment based in Clayton, Del.
