Running back David Johnson rushed for 82 yards on 17 carries as fourth-ranked Gilman defeated host Boys' Latin, 24-6, yesterday.

Shane Walterhoefer scored Boys' Latin's lone touchdown on a 27-yard reception in the first quarter that tied the game at 6.

The Greyhounds improved to 2-1 as the Lakers fell to 0-2.

No. 13 Calvert Hall 40, Western Tech 0: Halfback Mike Newton led the Cardinals (1-2) with four rushing touchdowns in the rout of the visiting Wolverines. He finished with 219 yards on 24 carries.

Quarterback Andrew Robinson added 118 rushing yards and one touchdown.

River Hill 35, Centennial 13: The Hawks (3-0) stayed undefeated in Howard County with the win over the visiting Eagles (0-3).

River Hill senior quarterback Brad Hostetler ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to guide the offense.

Greg Ashcroft led the Eagles, scoring on a 14-yard run in the first quarter.

Mount Hebron 14, Reservoir 7: Brendan Clancy scored the game-winning touchdown on a 4-yard run with 1:50 left in regulation to lift the host Vikings over the Gators.

In the winning drive, Clancy had 13 carries for 55 yards. Chris Eccleston led the Vikings with 11 carries for 81 yards and one interception.

The Vikings improved to 3-0 and the Gators slipped to 1-2.

Boys soccer

No. 1 McDonogh 3, St. Paul's 0: Jon Ports, Wade McHugh and Xavier Rock each scored to lead the visiting Eagles (7-0-2) over the Crusaders.

Ports added an assist, as did Maryland-bound midfielder Mike Marchiano.

Eagles goalkeeper Alex Horwath recorded his seventh shutout, stopping six shots.
