5 injured in Anne Arundel car accident

September 18, 2004|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Five Pasadena residents were injured yesterday evening in a two-vehicle accident on East-West Boulevard near Veterans Highway, according to Anne Arundel County police.

About 5 p.m., Lawrence Simms Jr. was traveling west on East-West Boulevard when he lost control of his Oldsmobile sedan and skidded over the median, said Corp. Jeff Gross, one of the officers who responded to the incident.

The Oldsmobile mowed down hedges and grass before striking a utility truck traveling east.

Simms, his adult passenger, Christina Jarvis, and the driver of the truck, Shaun Snyder, were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Jarvis' two small children, who also were in the car, were taken to North Arundel Hospital for treatment. None of the victims' conditions was available yesterday evening.

Police said their preliminary investigation does not indicate that speed or a slick roadway were factors in the incident.
