Northbound JFX to close tomorrow for celebration

The Jones Falls Expressway will take its annual day off from carrying northbound motorists tomorrow to make way for pedestrians, runners, inline skaters and bicyclists as Baltimore holds its annual Jones Falls Valley Celebration.

The northbound lanes from Fayette Street to Northern Parkway will be closed to vehicles from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the event.

The events include a five-mile footrace at 8 a.m. and 15-kilo- meter bicycle time trials at 9:30 a.m., both starting at Cold Spring Lane. The highway will be open to bikers, walkers and others at 11 a.m.

Parking is available at the Polytechnic Institute/Western High School complex on Cold Spring Lane. The event coincides with whitewater canoe and kayak races that begin at Robert E. Lee Park at 9:30 a.m.
