Twins update

They're hot at the right time. The Twins have won a season-high nine in a row, and 14 of 16, to run away with the AL Central and claim the third-best record in the league. They are 26 games above .500 for the first time since the end of the 2002 season. The Twins have outscored their opponents 58-16 in the past nine games, including last night's 10-1 trouncing of the Chicago White Sox, and their pitchers have posted a 1.78 ERA. They lead the league in team ERA, and Santana is a top candidate to win the Cy Young Award. He tossed seven scoreless innings, with no walks and nine strikeouts, in a Sept. 8 victory at Camden Yards. The night before, Radke allowed one run in seven innings, matching Matt Riley. Twins reliever Jesse Crain has a scoreless streak of 15 2/3 innings. The Twins took two of three from the Orioles last week, and two of three in July. This is the first series in Minnesota.
