On Tuesday, September 14, 2004, RICHARD W. "Dick" SHARP, 72, due to complications following a stroke; beloved husband of the late Helen E. (Evans). Richard worked at Black & Decker for eight years, and later, Bendix radio for five years. He retired from Northrup Grumman Aerospace after 25 years as a machinist. Richard can say some of his parts are on the moon and aboard the Lunar Lander. The couple retired to Ida Grove, Iowa. After Helen's death, he moved to Avon Park, Florida. Shortly after suffering a stroke, his daughter and son-in-law brought him back to Iowa to be with them. Richard spent four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Achernar during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion of Ida Grove, IA. He is survived by daughter Carol Ann Rosemeyer and her husband Bill of Sioux City, IA; granddaughter Tressa Gray and husband Benny of Whiting, IA; great-grandchildren Tyler and Lieghla Gray; mother-in-law Kathryn Evans of Towson, MD; sister Betty Lou Hustad, California; three brothers Paul Sharp and Marvin Sharp, both of California and Jerry Sharp of Florida. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Roy and Chuck, and his sister Ruth. Richard will be greatly missed by his family and friends and by his close friend, Joan Gebheart of Baltimore, MD. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 P.M. Friday, September 17, 2004 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, IA. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home, one hour prior to service. Richard will laid to rest in Ida Grove, Iowa Cemetery, next to his loving wife Helen with private services at a later date.
