A 26-year-old man was fatally shot late yesterday afternoon while tinting the windows of his car less than a block from his mother's West Baltimore home, city police reported.

Michael Crawford was applying tinted plastic to the windows of his 1995 Mitsubishi in the 1300 block of Winchester St. about 5:30 p.m. when a gunman shot him in the back, chest and side with a semiautomatic handgun, said homicide Detective Frank Miller.

Police knew of no motive in the attack on Crawford, a resident of the 4300 block of White Ave. in Northeast Baltimore. He died 30 minutes later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Miller said.

Anyone with information was urged to call Miller or Detective James Lloyd at 410-396-2100.
